About JR Dixon

A Shining Example

Burley (JR) Dixon Jr was an example of perseverane, consistency and persistency. As a result of a bicycle accident at the age of 10, his leg had to be amputated. During the entire time, he remained strong and embodied a positive attitude after his surgery. He didn't let the burden of losing his leg slow him down. He instead became a beacon of courage for others.

It was his determination that allowed him to beat the odds of his physical condition, environmental oddities, financial disparities, and the lack of updated amputee equipment. He graduated in the top 10% of his high school class and went on to major in chemistry in college, taking a minor in computer science.

JR Dixon

Natural Perservance

While attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. he broke his prosthetic leg. This forced him to come home, which was difficult as he was very close to graduating. During the process of getting a new prosthetic limb, Jr. Dixon was killed.

A senseless act of gun violence took his life while he waited for his brother. While the people responsible for his death were caught and subsequently sentenced to life in prison, the loss is still a great tragedy.

JR Dixon's mission in life was to use his resources, his knowledge, and his connections to "beat the odds." Ultimately, he wanted to provide for others, helping empower them and ensure they have what is necessary to overcome life's obstacles.
